Celebrating the life of Luz Milagros Fonseca

January 2 1964 – January 10 2026

Luz Milagros Fonseca, 62, of Derby, passed away on January 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 2, 1964, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, and was the daughter of María Cruz and the late Demaso Fonseca Torres.

Luz loved spending time with her grandchildren and had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was truly the life of the party. Luz was very talented and creative; some of her favorite hobbies included arts and crafts, sewing, and gardening. She was also an amazing cook who brought people together through her food.

Luz leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and family. Her values and spirit will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was proud to have earned an associate’s degree in electronics.

She is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Jose Rodriguez; her son, Alexander Montero; her daughters, Meilyn Montero and Leslie Cintron; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 7 siblings; and many loving nieces and nephews.
